WEB DESIGNER / HTML CSS CODER

THE OPPORTUNITY:

The Gala Coral Group is Europe’s largest integrated betting and gaming company, employing around 19,000 employees. As well as over 1,700 betting offices, bingo clubs and casinos, we have a significant online presence in the UK and throughout Europe.

Due to substantial growth in our online offer, the E-Commerce Division currently has an excellent opportunity for a Web Designer / HTML CSS Coder. You will work in a team to produce high quality websites, working closely with graphic designers and IT developers.

Responsibilities include:

Building XHTML/CSS templates from provided designs following best coding practice and in-house guidelines
Building web sites, micro sites and promotional pages based on a content management system used by the Company
Maintaining existing websites

THE CANDIDATE:

We are seeking an experienced Web Designer / HTML CSS Coder with either academic background or proven experience in an IT environment. The candidate will be required to show a portfolio of frontend design/development work.

Your key skills include:

Expert in XHTML and CSS including cross browser issues (IE6, IE7, Firefox>1.5 and Safari>3.0)
Solid understanding of Accessibility standards including WCAG 1.0 and WCAG 2.0
Advanced in SEO frontend development practices
Knowledge in frontend performance optimisation
Compliant with W3C standard

Other desirable skills include:

Understanding of web usability and user interaction
Basic knowledge of Flash, XML, DOM and JavaScript

The ability to collaborate with project managers, account managers, developers and to work within a team or on your own is essential. You will need to be an analytical thinker, well organized and reliable. You will also have good technical and communication skills and the ability to provide appropriate technical solutions to business related problems.

An interest in Sports / Gaming would be an advantage.
